What is Hjerte, and how is it pronounced?
Hjerte (Danish)
Origin & history
From Old Norse hjarta, from Proto-Germanic *hertô, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱḗr (“heart”).
Pronunciation
IPA: /jɛrtə/
Meaning
Vital part or essence, center, spirit, love, compassion, courage.
But in English, and since we are based in California, it’s plain old HEART. As in everything we do is from the heart, made with heart, and shared to the world with heart. Hjerte also means ‘spirit’, which happens to be what we make.
